a good indicatio of the different types of services available.
Definition of Terms
Host:
Name of the domain hosting company.
Monthly Fee:
Depending on the host and the cost for services, the monthly
fee will be billed either a year in advance or monthly.
Set-Up Fee:
Depending on the host and the cost for services, the setup fee
is charged for configuring your domain.
Type:
V=Virtual Account (www.yourname.host.com) R=Real Account (www.yourname.com)
Internic Fees apply, and can vary with registration.
Disk Space:
This is the amount of space you have available on their server
to store your web pages and graphics. Using our average page
size of 13,000 (not including graphics), we can store anywhere
from 1,923 - 7,690 pages on these servers. Unless your application
is huge, you should not run out of space. If you do, more space
is usually available from you host at an additional charge. (Approx.
$1.50/gig)
Email Accounts:
These are the accounts you set-up to receive Email from your
new domain (ie. sales@yourdomain.com). These are typically forwarded
to your existing Email account.
Free Trials:
Yes believe it Virtual Empire will allow you to try out a domain
for 30 days. If you don't like the service, don't pay and the
domain will be removed.
Bandwidth:
This is how much traffic the host will allow your site to receive
before incurring additional charges.
SSL or Secure Socket Layer: This is a security encryption used to handle
on line ordering and the transmission of sensitive data. If you
are going to take credit cards you should use SSL. If not try
using PayPal. Secure Email credit card transactions.
Shopping Cart:
If you will be selling a multitude of products, you will want
to have a shopping cart. This allows your customers to browse
your site, select items to purchase and keeps them in the cart
until they are ready to check out.
